1st-7thAugust 2014 the Biological Farming Association Elkana conducted a Survey in the village Utsera, Racha-Lechkhumi Lower Svaneti Region. The aim of the survey was to make stakeholder mapping, assess development potential in the village and prepare SWOT analysis for the sustainable and integrated rural tourism development.
Elkana has used Rapid rural appraisal (RRA) methodology to conduct the survey. RRA can be viewed as a set of methods, enabling the rural population to obtain and analyze accurate and reliable information over a short period of time. Interviewers use semi structured questionnaires to estimate the current situation and development potential of locals.
Interviews were carried out among local government, local guest house owners, bee-hives owners, potential guides, administrator of the local sanatorium, tourists, holidaymakers, representatives of local school, etc.
